A charming mid-19th-century Italian Luigi Filippo (Louis Philippe style) commode is characterized by soft, rounded architectural lines. This lovely medium-sized chest features a thick, honed marble slab displaying soft silver-grey tones accented with oyster shaped forms of natural cream and light amber. A hand-carved, grissinato wrap-around frieze adorns the top drawer, situated above two deeper, full-width drawers. The case piece rests gracefully on its original high, traditional piedi a cipolla (onion feet). The drawers are adorned with black inlaid shield-shaped escutcheons.
